Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. – 1 Peter 5:7
Anxiety is truly a struggle that overwhelms many in our time. It’s a form of emotional exhaustion brought on by worrying in advance, draining our strength. That suffering—before anything even happens—comes from uncertainty. The devil specializes in undermining our faith by using this very tactic.
Even Jesus’ disciples experienced moments of anxiety while they were with Him. On one occasion, they questioned Jesus about the future. He responded:
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” (Matthew 6:25–26)
Jesus pointed to the remedy for anxiety: trusting in God. We must embrace His promises and His plan of salvation. When we understand that God knows everything—and still chose to save us through His Son—everything feels lighter and clearer. We have a true Friend who can carry what we cannot. The Great Physician who can heal even the deepest wounds.
How do we hand over our anxiety to God? Through prayer. Prayer gives us the opportunity to be in close communion with God and share with Him what troubles us. We can speak honestly to Him and ask for His help. When we pour it all out in prayer, we are freed from that heavy burden.
Remember, Jesus is the symbol of victory, and in Him we are more than conquerors. When Christ came to earth, He endured everything—because no one else could bear what He took upon Himself. Cast out uncertainty from your heart by placing your faith in the certainty of salvation and the unchanging promises of God.
To be set free:
Read Matthew 6:25–34. Jesus speaks about anxiety, and His words are a true balm for the soul.
Set aside time daily for prayer. Use those moments to lay down every burden you’re carrying.
Strengthen your faith by reading God’s Word. It teaches us and reminds us that nothing is too hard for God.
To pray:
Lord Jesus, I want to lay all my worries at Your feet. You are my safe harbor. I find peace in Your words of love, and joy in Your promises. I trust in You, Jesus. In Your name, Amen.
