Jesus went to pray, and you should do the same.

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. (Mark 1:35)

What do you do before making an important decision? Surely, you think about it for a long time. You probably ask for the opinion of others. But what Jesus did is much better: He went to speak with the Father.

Jesus guided His life according to God’s will, and to know it, He prayed constantly. You might have difficulty finding time due to a busy schedule, but Jesus faced the same challenge. The solution He found was waking up earlier.

Don’t worry, you don’t have to wake up at four in the morning, but you can organize yourself to have a time for prayer. Jesus didn’t wake up early for pleasure; He sacrificed something (in this case, sleep) to have that precious time before God. Do the same!

Go to a quiet place or to your room.

  • Today, make the decision to pray to God. Don’t wait, start today.

  • When you have to make a big decision, dedicate time to prayer, and listen to what your Father advises you to do.

  • Pray for yourself, but also pray for those around you.

For prayer:

Lord God, make my heart more like that of Christ Jesus. I ask for a heart that loves the place of prayer, a heart willing to sacrifice things for the sake of our relationship, Father. Forgive me for the many times I haven’t sought You, help me grow in this now. I ask this in Jesus' name, Amen!
