Psalm 119:29-30“Remove from me the way of lying, and grant me Your law graciously. I have chosen the way of truth; I have laid Your judgments before me.”

Much of the world still doesn't fully understand what conversion really is. They think it’s simply a change of habits or something psychological that a person decides at a pivotal moment in their life. It’s common to see comments from people saying when or how they should stop to choose their religion.

However, what happens is what this psalmist describes. Notice that he is not turning from the wrong path by his own choice, but he is being guided away from deceptive ways. In other words, he is not converting on his own, but he is being led to conversion. What brings about this conversion is not just a momentary reflection or event, but the grace of God.

Conversion is also not a shift from a deceptive path to an empty one, but quite the opposite. When we turn away from the world’s errors, we are faced with a path full of truth and life that we need to know and dedicate ourselves to. When God’s grace reaches us, we choose to follow His divine commandments.

Make your decision

  • Have you already left the deceptive paths of the world, or are you still being deceived by them? Turn to the Lord!

  • Acknowledge that it was by God’s grace that you were saved.

  • Like the psalmist, make the decision to follow God’s commandments and be faithful to the Lord of the universe.

Prayer:

Lord, I ask that You help me reach maturity. I thank You for finding me on the path of destruction, on the path of deception, and for placing me on the road of truth, where Your Holy Son, Jesus Christ, dwells. Lord, open my eyes and teach me Your law, so I may keep it in my heart and live joyfully. I ask this in the name of Jesus, Amen.
