Lord, if it’s You — Peter replied — tell me to come to You on the water.Come — said Jesus. Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.(Matthew 14:28-29)

In life, there are seasons when we must face storms, and this is inevitable. But we must always remember that God is by our side, even in the midst of the most difficult situations. It may seem like an obvious statement, but it’s quite common for us to forget about God when life gets complicated.

Often, we only remember God when the situation reaches its breaking point. God allows these storms for our learning and to take us to a higher level of faith. Miracles happen when things seem impossible, and that’s when our faith is put into action.

After that miracle in the storm, Peter had the opportunity to experience something more. In obedience to Jesus’ word, he placed his feet on the water and went to meet Christ, experiencing the supernatural. When we are with Jesus, we have the chance to experience something more in our lives. The more we learn with Jesus, the more we experience His power. Our faith is built up, and this is how we walk on water to meet our Creator.

Step out of the boat!

  • Be attentive to God’s voice. Pray, meditate on His word, and cultivate intimacy with Him.

  • Learn to identify the situations in which you need God’s help. Maintain a balance between your independence and faith. God wants us to mature spiritually.

  • When you find yourself in a situation where you need to put your faith into action, fix your eyes on Christ and His word. Peter walked on water, but it didn’t last long because he shifted his focus to external factors.

For prayer:

Lord Jesus, I know that all things work together for the good of those who love You. Create in me a heart that trusts more in You and in Your word. Give me the necessary conditions to learn and grow in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
